Catherine Patrickson is an Irish artist working primarily in mixed-media processes involving varying combinations of inks and watercolour pigments.

Her work draws upon a vocabulary of symbolic imagery gleaned from observation of her surrounding environment of bird and plant life in East Galway, where she currently lives. The work itself is an examination of limits to freedom – both individual and collective – inherent in our sense of identity and place within the contemporary world. In this respect the natural landscape is seen to be overlaid with, and expressive of, the emotional life of the individual in response to the politics of existence.

Catherine holds an honours degree in Fine Art from the University of Ulster.
